Lighting is essential for creating the right atmosphere for the bedroom but it’s not easy to get right. Take inspiration from the hospitality industry to recreate the stylish and relaxing feel of a boutique hotel room by using only lighting.
Bedside wall lights
A classic staple of hotel rooms is the wall light. Mounted either side of the bed, adjustable fixtures can offer both accent lighting and task lighting for reading. Use our MK1 Factory Wall Lights for a simple but sophisticated look.

Make a statement
Whether it’s two stylish pendants either side of the bed or a large feature light in the centre, luxury hotel rooms usually have at least one extravagant light fixture. For an industrial style, use our Coolicon Pendants either side of the bed for a bold but tasteful look.

Keep it coordinated
Too much detail can detract from the calming atmosphere you are trying to create. Draw parallels with colour, shape or material to create a cohesive space. Recreate the below interior with our powdercoated pendants and wall lights or use our Prismatic range for a classic and consistent look.

Natural light
While bedroom lighting fixtures are key, you should not forget the significance of daylight. The best hotel designs use two layers to dress the windows. Although it is important to block out all light for sleeping, you also need a lighter layer to avoid a cave-like feeling during the day. A translucent curtain or Venetian blinds will allow daylight in while still offering privacy. While a heavier curtain allows you to create a warm, cosy atmosphere with artificial light in the evenings.
